Writers Desk

Happy October everyone! This won’t be very long just wanted to post this stunning writers desk I finished this morning. img_3611

Isn’t it gorgeous?! I wish I had a place for it in our house, it’s so simple and country. For the top, I sanded it all the way down and then stained it using Varathane Stain and Poly in Kona. I really like using this product because it dries fast and no top coat or extra step is needed. You do have to pay extra careful attention to brush strokes and have to work relatively quickly but I think the end results are worth it. I used one of those little foam brushes to reduce any likelihood of brushstrokes showing.

The base is painted Annie Sloan Country Grey. I have a love affair with this color! It’s a warm tan with greyish green undertones. It looks fabulous with white (my fave) and obviously pairs wonderfully with stained wood. I then waxed the base with clear wax and buffed.

You can purchase this desk over in the shop for $200.

    1. Thank you! The mirror I actually made myself years ago from an old window I found. I removed the old window panes and replaced with mirror panes. Lowes has a glass cutting area where you can have individual mirror panes cut to size. I plan on recreating one similar soon so stay tuned for a diy blog post on that 🙂
